Surlng Doe are also known as Butterfly Swords, Gee Mo Surlng Doe, or Mother-Child Double Knives. Originating from southern China, this weapon is used in several traditional styles of southern kung fu. Surlng Doe are most akin to the machete, but double.
Surlng Doe used in Ging Mo Kune undergo the same creation process as the Dai Doe; hand-beaten from spring steel, producing a flexible blade.
Surlng Doe are part of the double-handed weapon family. Its short, single-sided blade is used in a chopping motion, and its protective handguard doubles as a controlling tool. The design enables the wielder to trap other bladed weapons with one hand, whilst counter attacking with the other available weapon.
After you feel comfortable with the Surlng Bey Sow or when you commence Blue Belt content, whichever is sooner.
As with other bladed weapons, wipe these down after training and apply a light coating of clean light-grade oil to protect against rust. Remember to wrap and conceal when travelling to and from training please. Also, consult your local police station for clarification around laws pertaining to ownership of this training tool.
