My Journey

Instructors

I started back in 2000. Training 3 times a week with a friend of mine and I was pretty serious about it from the beginning.

I trained during the days initially and it was at my first grading that I attended an evening class and saw the Instructors training. The multiple opponent padwork was so awesome to watch, it was definitely something I wanted to do. Five months into my training I began the course. In 2005 I graduated to Senior Instructor and in 2008, Chief Instructor. I had the privilege of training and graduating with Si Hing Dan Barson, an individual whom I admire as a person and an incredible martial artist.

As I got more involved with the Academy I decided to drop my university studies and concentrate on Kung Fu. It gave me the opportunity to travel to China with the demonstration team in 2003 and train with the Shaolin monks, I was able to assist Si Fu with his private students - invaluable experience - and put more hours into  my regular classes. I was training a lot. It was hard work but never something I was not going to follow through. There was too much benefit.

It is great to have trained so intensely for nine years and still see so much more ahead of me as a student as well as professionally.

I look forward to it.
